Amber Agates Await

August 22nd, 2009

As I strolled down the beach while bar fishing for Chinook Salmon recently, I glanced down into the rivers edge and found one of British Columbia's hidded gem stones, the Amber Agate. These stones are mainly all clear and amber in color, and if you hold them up to the sun you can actually see right through them. Sometimes they can be very hard to find but when you see one you'll know as the have a sort of glow in the water. So next time you on the beach waiting for your bell to ring on the bar rod, take a walk around and be a "Rockhound" but keep your eyes to the ground, you never know what you may find.

A New Guide Joins The Team

August 15th, 2009

I'm happy to announce that we have a new guide on the Ultimate Sportfishing team, Ken Sheers, has years of guiding experience on our local rivers.
http://blog.bcfishingguides.com/media/blogs/blog/photos/Ken_6.jpg

Ken was born and raised in BC and has fished the Fraser Valley most of his life. Ken lives only a few minutes from the boat launch in Mission, otherwise known as “sturgeon central”, so it only makes sense that on most days you will find Ken on his home waters of the Fraser river, hunting for giant sturgeon. Kens keen attention to detail and enthusiasm is what makes him a successful fisherman and his outgoing, “never say quit” personality will ensure that you will have a great time fishing with Captain Ken.

WELCOME ABOARD KEN !

Express Reel Service

August 12th, 2009

As a professional fishing guide my fishing reels get used and abused daily so I realize the importance of reel care and servicing. My clients can rest assured that our reels drag systems won't let them down on stopping that trophy fish of a lifetime because our reels go into Express reel service annually for a good cleaning and tune up. Todays reels are precision tools that need a good cleaning and lubrication every year, sand, grit and slime can wreak havoc on reels so let Kevin at Express Reel Service work his magic on your reels and when you use them after a servicing you'll be amazed at how smooth a reel should be.

TIP:
After using your reel for the day, loosen the drag right off and that will ensure the drag washers work the next time out.

Tight Lines,
Randy Beck
